I'm an analytical chemist so I make results that go into reports that get submitted to regulatory authorities around the world (like the EU, US FDA and so on).

We have some of them too, except they seem to make up numbers that go into reports

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

I design buildings, but thankfully I don't make them. I've lost count of the number of projects I've worked on, and have no idea how many of them have become finished buildings, but I do know my biggest to date is going well, although this is an old photo: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&sourc ... 16522&z=17...and my second biggest is coming along nicely also, although this google image is about a year old now: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&sourc ... 2&t=h&z=17

I used to be a fitter down t'mines. I frequently made a mess and lots of noise. I did 'make' a paddy train once, though. I also helped to make two babies, although my better half did the lion's share of the work.

I make music...
Halfway through writing a requiem, and am writing a libretto for an opera.
Busy times!

Still doing my degree, but after that I hope to be "making" local government enforcement. My girlfriend's family are the UK's leading manufacturer and supplier of ice-cream cones & related products.

Hmm, people can go to prison where I work if they do that sort of thing.

I'm too cack-handed to make anything respectable, probably from chronic onanism. I do like my DIY.
I've pulled off a few big projects I'm fairly pleased with, but I do tend to make a mess. My dad puts me to shame though. He handles far bigger jobs, is an absolute perfectionist and he's still got about 10 on the go despite being 70! My mum was on the 'phone earlier telling me about her adventures on the tractor. In order to trim a big bush, dad had mounted the back and erected a good length of scaffolding to keep a firm grip. He did the business with his new petrol-powered toy while mum stayed in the saddle to drive.
I also love to cook, although my photobucket "food" folder is a sorry show compared to Simon's.
For a living, I've always been either a design engineer or a technician. I don't build anything as such. I used to design bits, not I just assemble things other people built and then program them. These days mostly routers, PBX switches, data switches and servers.
I would like to say, design is an important part of the manufacturing process. Yay for the inventy people!
