When cassette tapes were still a novelty, I had a tape recorder and I used to tape TV theme tunes with a microphone hanging from the top of the telly. I had loads on tape and I suppose that I still do- but I have no idea where they are.

A few years ago, I collected quite a few Midi files of TV and movie theme tunes and having just had a quick look through them I find that two of my favourites are Airwolf and on a gentler note Due South.

For some reason, they won't play, so I haven't linked to the files that I uploaded. :?

I'd probably pick one of the Gerry Anderson series. Stingray, UFO, Space:1999 all had great intro sequences and themes but for me it has to be Thunderbirds.

Oh yeah, +1 for Thunderbirds and Space: 1999. :)

Yes. But which version? I vote for the Delia Derbyshire version. That has yet to be beat.

Special mention must go to the original Star Trek theme because it has bongos in it.

The very early ones and the new ones. Not so much the 80's ones, as the electric guitar type one was quite annoying. It's early, and I can't be doing with having to remember who was the doctor at the time.

Did you see what I did there...? "Who was the doctor at the..." Oh, forget it! ;) :P

I think mine is a three-way tie between The Dukes of Hazzard, The Littlest Hobo and Boon.

I'd forgot about Boon - classic!

Best Super-Hero if memory serves. No idea who won.

IIRC, wasn't M*A*S*H the winner? :?
Or at least a runner up?

Wouldn't surprise me, "Suicide is painless" is very good. :)

Ron Grainer and Barry Gray composed without a doubt some of the best music ever to accompany the moving image.

Ron Grainer's best for me would probably be Doctor Who and The Prisoner, but I will remember Barry Gray for his incidental music (his "End of the Road" suite is, IMO, quite a humbling piece of music, CLICKY to see if you agree). It always had a very distinctive style, which was ever present in all the great Gerry Anderson series.

Star Trek is obviously up there, as is the the very rousing Next Generation theme.

Surprised no-one's mentioned the A-team yet (don't like the programme, but the music is ace! )
