It's a bloody pain in the hole on PS3, I can tell you that much... You used to be able to click on various options and get where you wanted to be quickly, or they were just right in front of you, now everything is scrolling sideways before pushing up, then scrolling sideways again. It's hard to explain, but it's definitely not instinctual compared to the old method.

Bugbears (on PS3 at least):

It can take ages to start up sometimes.

The search function appears to be a '4.55pm on a Friday' effort.

Favourites, while a good idea quite well implemented (folders!), currently has short term memory loss on occasion.

You can't select what specific time position you want to jump to, it's 1 minute approx jumps only, and they bring up two massive borders while you're jumping about onscreen trying to make it work.

Unless I'm missing something, most of the controller buttons don't work any more, which means jumping around onscreen again just to go 'back'.

There's no 'quit' option short of the PS button, quit, then twiddling your thumbs... You can't jump to the net from it any more either.

There's less interesting show titles (the BBC3/4 stuff that occasionally makes it to BBC2) on the homescreen compared to the previous incarnation, or at least it feels that way.

:(

It's a real step back in terms of usability, and unfortunately it looks like the PS3 version is what everyone will be getting going by what I've read/seen :?

I have tried the iPad version and far too often it says problem try later. I definitely do not have that problem, with either the Channel 4 or ITV iPlayers.

OI! BBC!

STOP ADDING SO-CALLED FEATURES AND JUST MAKE THE FRIGGING iPLAYER ACTUALLY JUST BLOODY WORK!

That's better.

It took me about an hour and a half the other day to watch University Challenge on iPlayer on my iPad!

Yesterday I watched "The Real Sleeping Beauty" and had to restart the app 4 times (and that's good compared to the average).

Has nobody learned anything from Apple?

Stop adding features and just make it work.

The BBC are obviously running around like headless chickens trying to look busy. Though if they keep the iPlayer useless then they are more likely to get canned.

I was wondering if that was like the emergency pizza button for the iPhone. ;)

The PS3 version of iPlayer (the version everyone's getting apparently) reminds me of Vista - spinning infinity circle achieving fcuk all, and everything that was previously useful and easy access has been moved or got rid of :x

And that's before it deletes all your favourites every two weeks and doesn't show as many programmes as the 'PC' version
