Afternoon all,

As I near the end of my job (in a good way ;) ) I have been told that my role is being offshored when I leave to a member of the Indian team based in Bangalore. There will be a handover period of a week or two during which (as I am in a customer facing telecoms support role) we will need to be in pretty much permanent contact to ensure that everything is going smoothly.

Of course, the oddest question comes first: who's timezone do we handover in, is it courteous to suggest a split of the +4.5 hours, or would you expect normal hours to continue? :?:

Surely they'll be covering UK time so your customers can call when they have a problem?

If so then they should accommodate you as their guys will be working nights anyway.

Funnily enough, my counterparts in another department who are offshore start work at 4:30am GMT. They do a similar job to me except with a different provider. Whether this means they have more manpower or not I don't know (either that or they just don't need to sleep!).
