damn well Ive messed everything up tonight  its a week til the persons birthday but I gave her the birthday presents today incase I dont see her and went to a music festival at the local pub with her just now few hours ago and asked her if she would like a birthday kiss but she laughed (nervously?) and said no  feel like a tit now for asking Im kinda thinking she refused as a strange man dunno if it was her friend or not he was really drunk and being rude and swearing and gave her a kiss on cheek without asking, it was same man that she gave lift home to so maybe they are friends. so... something new to dwell on I guess _________________

Asking was a mistake! You should've just gone for it. Worst case, you'd be in the same situation you are now, best case - winner! Oh well, chalk up another lesson.... Hope you're not too disappointed.

Laughing it off and not taking yourself to seriously should do the trick. I imagine she'll be fine after that.
