I use Tube Deluxe for the tube and Train Tiickets for the overground trains

I use Bus Times as the bus fares are a lot lower than the tube and you get to see the city at the same time.

+1 but really old school and use the stars, just avoid the city centre with the constant glow of light. I used the maps printed in every underground station and a free map provided by my hotel.
