Thanks everyone, your messages mean a lot to me. It was expected, (sort of) as he was diagnosed with cancer about a month ago, but he went downhill rapidly, (basically he lost the will to live) but at least he didn't suffer for a year, like my mum... Bratty, it's a "normal" burial, which will take place in Milton Keynes. He bought a double plot when my mum died, about 17 years ago... That's all for now, but thanks again everyone.

I'm really sorry I never saw this thread yesterday, John. My deepest condolences to you and your family Peter.

So... three years already. How time flies, even when you're not having fun. I thought I'd bring this thread back to page 1, (the phrase "resurrect the thread" seemed a bit tasteless, even for me!) just in case anyone has found themselves in a similar situation recently, so I can say to you, hand on heart and through bitter first hand experience, that it does get easier with time. I think I might raise a glass in memory of both of my parents, (the 20th anniversary of my mother's passing away was last week) tonight. --> --> (almost)

A year and 4 months since I lost my Dad. Have a bit of him in a mini urn at home and it's a comfort to have him there. if you want to see what I mean:
