http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/edinburgh_and_east/8132642.stmIs it just me or does anybody else think thi sis just plain wrong. This shouldn't happen to anybody. You have a long term neighbour of 18 years who is nearly 90, and you don't keep an eye on them ?

Tis a sad story indeed, but isn't it better in the News forum?

Heh! Actually, thinking about it, it might as well stay here. Sorry, Alun.

A five year old corpse would probably be either mummified if it was in a dry and largely airtight environment and would therefore IMHO smell a bit musty or would have had most of the flesh consumed by flies and the like and would probably be largely skeletal and not smell of much. That's my thoughts.
It's only during the decay phase that it will stink something awful and thankfully (despite my line of employment) I've yet to encounter one of those.

Ouch.. that's a bit harsh. I check up on my dad every week or so (just with a phone call, i'm not bloody driving 200 miles!) and he's not even 90 years old!
Though I LOVE her surname..

For my first year of Uni, I had to find accommodation fast, being reasonably late to the course. As I didn't know anyone else at the time, I ended up in the YMCA next door to the Uni. At the other end of the corridor I lived on, an old man used to stay. He was probably in his 80s. One day, he wasn't at breakfast. 5 days later, staff entered his room and found him dead.

It's a shame, I wonder if she has any family, potentially a lonely child with no husband...It's not surprised, but a great shame. Me too!
