as someone on here likes to repeat, an anecdote is not a fact.

Also, I think the majority of people (not only women!) do not have an agenda in life. All they want is to do good and be recognised for it. There is not some big conspiracy out to get you.

No, exactly. I am all too aware of sexism in the tech industry. That's what I opened this whole post with.

I agree with this also but that isn't the issue here either.

The problem I am raising here is that a guy on stack overflow was accused of being sexist because a woman disagreed with him. He tried to explain that he wasn't sexist and all that got was links to things like "A lesson about privilege".

Once the S word was out there he had no hope. Even though he had done nothing sexist.

I guess I get annoyed because there are people out there trying to fight sexism and there are people who think they are but are getting it wrong. Like this Glyph guy. He thinks he's helping but really he seems to be jumping on the bandwagon and his only accomplishment is that he has turned the good guy into the bad guy and got a round of applause from followers who don't actually look at the details.

All it does is detract from the issue of sexism in the first place. It's the story of the boy who cried wolf.
