Some insightful stuff there. I'll have a bash.

What is your earliest memory?
Making a snowman with other kids in nursery. We used half a potato for his nose.

Which living person do you most admire, and why?
Hard one. Probably my old boss. He's a genius, drives nice cars and lives in a nice house. I still find myself thinking what he would do/say in certain situations that come up at work.

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
All of them but mostly low self-esteem that arises from time to time.

What is the trait you most deplore in others?
Injustice/intolerance.

Property aside, what’s the most expensive thing you’ve bought?
My car. It was £23k brand new. Probably worth £8k now.

What is your most treasured possession?
Don't really have one. Maybe photos. If I lost everything, I'd like to keep my photos as memories.

What makes you unhappy?
Work and debt.

What do you most dislike about your appearance?
All of it.

Who would play you in the film of your life?
Don't think there's anyone suitable.

What does love feel like?
Not sure I could describe it.

Don't have one (I did but have since forgotten it!)

What is your favourite smell?
Petrol. Or the smell in the air before a thunderstorm.

What did you want to be when you were growing up?
Don't know. Maybe a military pilot.

What is the worst thing anyone’s said to you?
Can't remember the precise details but it resulted in me vowing to keep quiet and say little.

What is your guiltiest pleasure?
Having a chocolate bar once a week.

What do you owe your parents?
My career. They both pushed me to study and get to university. My ability to sit down after work and study astounds my other half.

Which living person do you most despise, and why?
My father. Mainly because of the way he treated us as kids.

Who would you invite to your dream dinner party?
Famous 80s cartoon charactsds.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
Used to be "fine", then "dude" and "awesome". Now I think it's "thank you kindly".

What is the worst job you’ve done?
Difficult since I've really only ever been a doctor (other than a summer job as a shelf-stacker). Within that job, it was A&E.

What has been your biggest disappointment?
My life. Totally not how I envisioned it would be back when I was a teenager and when I was in my early 20s.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Not sure.

What keeps you awake at night?
Lots of things. If it's not worries about work, money or the missus, then it's the insomnia.

What song would you like played at your funeral?
johnny cash. Hurt.

Tell us a secret
Don't have any!

What is your earliest memory?
Winter of 1963, aged 3, building a snowman in our back garden.

Which living person do you most admire, and why?
I don't really admire anyone.

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
My ability to procrastinate.

What is the trait you most deplore in others?
People who make assumptions about others.

Property aside, what’s the most expensive thing you’ve bought?
A digital mixing desk that cost £3500 and that was a special half-price offer. Recently stopped working and therefore is now a £3500 door stop.

What is your most treasured possession?
The one thing I'd save in a fire is a pencil sketch of my great uncle George Mercer Dawson by the Pre-Raphaelite artist John Millais. It's the one thing I own that can't be replaced and is worth something to lots of other people more important than myself.

What makes you unhappy?
These days I've learnt not to be unhappy.

What do you most dislike about your appearance?
My face. I've learnt to live with it though.

Who would play you in the film of your life?
TBH I really don't care.

What does love feel like?
Weird.

What is your favourite word?
Ephemeral.

What is your favourite smell?
I don't really have one, but I am quite partial to "New Mac Smell" although I'm sure it's no longer a good as it used to be in the 90s.

What did you want to be when you were growing up?
All the usual things that little boys growing up in the 60s wanted to be - train driver, astronaut. Then I discovered pop music and ever since then I wanted to be a rock star.

What is the worst thing anyone’s said to you?
I stopped worrying about what other people said to me a long long time ago.

What is your guiltiest pleasure?
I don't have any. I'm perfectly happy for others to know what I like (and don't like).

What do you owe your parents?
My independance.

Which living person do you most despise, and why?
There are people I don't like. I just avoid knowing or reading about them. It makes for a stress-free life.

Who would you invite to your dream dinner party?
My very good friends.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
There are lots that I am constantly trying to wean myself off. Anything that mentions deities for a start.

What is the worst job you’ve done?
I've only ever had one job so I have nothing to compare it with.

What has been your biggest disappointment?
Not being a rock star.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Making it into my 50s.

What keeps you awake at night?
Nothing these days.

What song would you like played at your funeral?
I don't want to have a funeral. Although as I'll be dead it doesn't really bother me one way or another.

Tell us a secret.
Two can keep a secret if one of them is dead.
