The problem is the referendum gave a voice to the minority who would otherwise be ignored. This needs to be stamped out before it gets worse. Wouldn't surprise me when it becomes physical.

What struck me as concerning was some of the promotion around the referendum, esp of that indian lady on the seesaw being shouted at by a white male. It looked very much like he wanted her out. That kind of xenophobic behaviour should not have been involved/incited/implicated but unfortunately was.
The Daily Heil makes no mention of this, which IMO is rather telling. Sad to hear it's escalated.

It makes me so [LIFTED] angry. The worst part is that there are people who stand by and do nothing about it.
I'd be the first one to jump in and make them leave.

Not experienceing any of that... Yet...
I am wondering how it will affect me long term, "Russland Deutsche" are an under-class here, they are looked down upon by many "real" Germans - Russland Deutsche are those that fled the Eastern Block (not East Germany) and come from the former German provinces that are now part of other countries.
Violence against immigrants is also on the rise here, but it doesn't seem to be as bad as in the UK.
Civil unrest in Berlin from left wingers did lead to them burning several cars over the weekend, but that wasn't racially motivated.

Most of the attacks are targeting visible minorities and Eastern Europeans. What I am really scared about is that to trade in Europe, we will probably keep the freedom of movement. So the racists will realise their trick didn't work and take it out on the foreigners.

My wife’s family has an Italian name, but when it’s written down, it can be mistaken for being Indian. Thankfully, they about third generation now (the family came here during WWII), so there’s no pesky accent to give things away.
On another note, someone in my car club, who (through group politics I have to have a s a“friend” on FaceBook) likes to post various incendiary things from groups like Britain First and the BNP. I’ve called him out on a few, especially some of the more ignorant stuff - and he’s either ignored me or said that I am “better informed” than he is.
He’s Hungarian - complete with accent and name. Part of me really wants him to experience some of this vileness for Karma reasons. He‘s a bit of a lighting rod, though. I’ve got the lay of the land with that group of people by seeing who “likes” his posts. It is concerning that while people don’t actively post stuff themselves, they are very happy to click the “Like” button.

I'm a "hidden migrant" in an area that voted largely for remain so not too concerned except when going into London. But that's because I'm careful anyway. Several of my friends from less savoury parts of London have reports attacks, or jibes like kids being told by schoolmates " when are you off then? " or " your mum is going to have to leave" . We need an official government statement before something terrible happens. I am also concerned about Northern Ireland, especially with the bank holiday approaching soon. Europeans support the independantists so it could turn nasty.

It is always nasty, though I understand that only the very worst is usually broadcast across the sea, but it is just varying degrees of unrest. Mark

Seems to me the chances of anyone who people care about doing that any time soon is next to zero...
