Like Big_D, I recently bought an iPod Touch. Also like Big_D, the software on my brand-new iPod was out-of-date and I had to pay £6 for the OS 3.0 upgrade. Anyhoo, I took the advice that was offered to Dave and I wrote to Apple iTunes support. They then subsequently agreed to refund the cost of the upgrade. I am over the moon, so far Apple's customer service has been par excellence.

When I've had problems with my Mac they've been superb, even when I was a year out of warranty (for a moment I forgot when I bought it) they helped as much as they said they could for free (pin pointed the problem) and then said they would discount the repair

I have found that if you are nice with Apple, they will be very helpful in return.
I was fed up with my first Macbook, so I spoke to a lovely lady in Customer Services, who immediately agreed to replace it for me. She had no obligation to do so, because they hadn't even attempted a repair, but she did it without a problem at all.
Peter.

Had to reinstall a Final Cut suite in work once, not a sign of the serials with the software. After finding an old invoice for the software from a reseller, Apple provided a serial for it and another piece of software (I forget which) gratis. All in all, very easy to deal with I found. Finding the old invoice was more grief.

Apple have been fantastic with me. They have repaired my MacBook for free even when it was rather unclear if the fault was due to careless handling by be. (it was a crack in the case). Their helplines have sorted out minor issues time after time. The guys at the genius bare have been superb too. Even phoning me up to check that the advice they had give had sorted out the problem.
As pg says if you are nice to them they seem to be nice right back at you.

My white MacBook had developed a crack near the keyboard it was 18 months old and I called Apple and they said no worries take it to an Apple store and we will repair it, they replaced the entire top section. I understand it's a known fault but still it was done with no questions and swiftly.
My iPhone 3G had a hairline crack on it's last day of warranty and they replaced the whole thing with a brand new boxed 3G, which comes with a 90 day warranty. Now my sister has it as a gift and I've got myself a shiney new white 32GB 3Gs
I will continue to buy Apple products because I find them easy to use and get the job done, great build quality and I'll get superb customer service.
You get what you pay for.

I thought the phone was covered for as long as the contract??? My experiences of Apple support have been excellent. My MacBook, which was one of the very first ones had a few problems. I took it to the Apple store and they repaired it immediately. They replaced the optical drive, but also did the top and bottom case because others had issues with them going yellow. After an hour or two they phoned back, and I went and collected it after finishing my shopping.

Glad to hear it Linux_User. Still waiting for Apple to get back to me... Been busy of late, what with flying around funerals and new job... Will have to chase them up again, now that things are settling down again.
