Is anyone else noticing that banks are creeping up the interest rates for loans and credit cards etc?

My bank just told they'll increase the interest rate for any outstanding and new balances on my credit card account to 1.597% per month, effectively 19% per annum, a increase of over 3% from my previous annual rate. I'm tempted to tell them to shove it, but then I do like to keep it handy for emergencies.

Is anyone else seeing their rates creep up?

I've no idea what my credit card rate is now. I know that sounds foolish, but I pay it off every month so I never pay any interest.

I wish my building society would up the interest rates on savings. I’m getting 0.2% at the moment. I’ll be going in on Saturday to talk to them about it.

Good luck with that.

"Hello. I'd like a better return of interest on my savings, seeing as how without savings this building society would have nothing to lend. How about it?"

"Computer says no."
