I'm just curious, has anyone here ever been truly addicted to a game, maybe going so far as to neglect food during the day (for instance)?

I don't think I've ever come close to that sort of scenario even though I've sat playing games into the wee small hours, and that was due to the sheer quality of GTA SA ;)

Diablo 2...

Managed to forget to eat for a couple of days while my parents were away (and therefore not there to nag me).

The girlfriend slapped me, fed me and told me she'd leave me if I did it again... Bit harsh but probably what I needed.

Red Alert :D
I was living at home at the time whilst "doing" my degree. I got up put my PC on and loaded up Red Alert. My brother went off to work and the next thing he was going off to work..again  Apart from a few toilet breaks.. solid RA fun

I used to take part in marathon D&D sessions over the course of a weekend, where we'd play non-stop from Friday night at midnight, until Sunday lunchtime, breaks for the loo and to collect delivery food orders from the front door once a day, but that's it. I doubt it qualifies as an addiction, we'd only do it once a month or so but it was pretty intense.

Spent 3 solid days playing C&C Retaliation on the PS during half-term once, we only surfaced from the room when we ran out of crisps and coke.

I've had marathon sessions on Command and Conquer (back in the day in my 'youf') and Championship Manager (when it was good and I should have been working hard at Uni) and more recently World of Warcraft but never to the extent I'd consider myself addicted. Even the odd Xbox game I can stay up most of the night playing and force myself to go to bed when the birds start tweeting but I would do myself harm and miss out on life/food/water for a game.
