Imagine email but better. That is what it is for. At the moment I have several family members on there and I use it to chat with them. Like an IM/email client but not exactly.

It's not in any way that. 'Email but better' would be email but with authenticated senders and with better tracking (for example). Unless your knowledge of email starts and stops with Gmail, it's about as far from 'email' as any web service could get. It'd be much more accurate to imagine X404 but with rounded corners and Google Services. Oh and crappy custom scroll bars that serve no added function whatsoever. Fair does. I'd say if it's anything it's PHPBB with a ton of AJAX stuff thrown in. It's not, but that's certainly what it feels like. Jon

I think most people aren't using a fraction of its potential. If you use it like a forum, then it's like a forum. If you use it like a chat client, then it's like a chat client. If you use it like email, then it's like email. Wave is what you make it.
In a forum, you can't collaborate on a single document. Topics can't be branched out, with emerging topics spun off. You can't easily make parts of a thread accessible to different parties. On this particular forum, you can't even embed objects.

I think you hit the nail on the head there. A wave IS an email and IS a chat and IS a forum but it is also a lot more than all of these things. I think the fact that people don't necessarily know how to use it is a good thing. It shows that people have no expectations of it. This should lead to it being used in a ridiculous number of ways that most people wouldn't think of right away.
