Well you don't lose data, and at least the returns process is quick and relatively painless compared to sony ;)

You Company Man you. ;) :D

Funnily enough I know 2 people out of a rather large friends list who have had 360s since launch fail on them.

I know more people to have PS3 issues, the blu ray laser is a common problem, as was the recent firmware update apparently.
Sony wanted over £100 for those repairs....

As I said above, mine was free and dealt with very swiftly.

jonbwfc I was behind her in a queue today - but I wouldn't describe it as 'bushy'.

Wiped the HDD, no joy as it doesn't wanna read BRs so I didn't even bother installing a game and just making myself more angry... Seems to be the BR drive. I've tried a few things off the net, nothing's worked so far.

Tomorrow shall see the drive entrance held open and air blasted in since I've nothing to lose. I've got the Sony helpline number after that (won't be telling them it's 2nd hand etc), see how far it goes and what I learn, if anything.

Probably buy a new system tomorrow in a store no matter what :x

Depending on the price I might buy the replaced one from you if you get it repaired ;)

Can't buy the £5 a month extended warranty, wait a week, report it damaged then claim for it, or have they closed that loophole.

Got the 120gb PS3 with Uncharted 2 at Sainsburys for £250 as the best and cheapest I could get without going into silly money (not to mention money I wasn't expecting to spend)...

I thought about getting the 250gb, but it just wouldn't be worth it for me personally :)
