Just watching an episode of TNG "The Royale". Picard mentioned Fermat's Last Theorem and how it is astounding that we can achieve so much but cannot prove a part time French mathematicians after 800 years of working on it. Erm... I think they missed the part where it was solved by Andrew Wiles in 1994 (I do realise that the episode was written before this but I still thought it was funny)

Lol.
I watched this ep a few days ago on Virgin1. Looked up the episode on Wiki since I wasn't going to be able to watch all of it.
This ep was made in 1987, when the theorem had not yet been solved.
There are other errors in the ep, one of which is the flag logo thingy they find.

It's things like this that make me wonder whether Star Trek's just made up.

Or the Starfleet Database is Wiki based.

Not as funny as this post. The episode first aired a full 5 years before the solution you cite above! Mark

The Borg went back in time and changed the fictional future of TNG. (Are we really doing this?)

See, it was the time travel aspect of the recent Trek film that threw me a bit

We’ve had so much time travel in Star Trek that it’s very hard to track what is real and what isn’t. If you think we have problems, remember that the writers couldn’t even agree on where Zephram Cochran was meant to be when the Enterprise E crew met him, despite it being made clear in TOS that he was living on Alpha Centauri.
