The download speeds in the morning are okay. Once everyone's awake and online they crawl. Painfully slow. Getting iPlayer to stream anything at dinnertime is a fools errand.

Their technical support staff know nothing except for "turn it off and on again". They don't know what different combinations of flashing lights mean on their modems. It's very hard to understand what they're saying as the indian accents are so thick, but even once you get past that they have a tendency to chat to their friends whilst "giving advice" to you.

Having said that...

Er....

Nope can't think of any good points. Except it's bloody easy to install and get set up, which as you're posting on this forum I don't believe is a problem.

We've not actually switched yet. But at least Best Beloved and I have agreed we ought to do it.

Next step is to book a rep to discuss various points, because BB is being fussy about where the cables are routed from the street.

But I suspect we shall switch very soon.

reliable and cheap. I know of two who have had problems - one house who have been paying for 50mb but not getting it, and another who were charged for what was advertised as a free router when they signed up.

As far as I know, they are both sorted but they charge a premium rate for the support line. If the problem turns out to be their fault, they supposedly refund the cost.

They ditched the premium rate support line a while ago for broadband problems.

The only thing I have to say about Virgin Cable is that I would get it in a heartbeat... if only they would lay the bloody cables.

I was with Telewest before Virgin took over and this year switched my phone to Virgin too. No problems at all. My bill is about £30 a month.

Can't give you my speeds as I don't know lol

Apologies for the thread necromancy.

They were due to connect us before Christmas, but due to a load of block paving that was put down after the original Telewest cable system went in and which the VM blokes don't like to break, followed by a hiatus while they worked out if they could move the termination to a better place, and then realising they couldn't, it was finally done today.

So far, it seems to be fine and dandy. Mind you, it's only been online for an hour.
