An additional point about salary. It isn't the be all and end all. There are other aspects to compensation that should be taken into consideration:
- is it a permanent (as opposed to a short contract) position?
- are there any other benefits that mitigate the lower salary (like a good pension scheme, medical insurance, free childcare e.t.c.)
- how quickly is the salary likely to go up? For instance, is there a pay rise if you complete a probationary period successfully?
- if it's a training type position then are you guaranteed to get a proper job at the end of it?
Also consider realistically how long you think you'd stay in the job if offered it and how it will enhance your CV if you don't plan on staying long. It's rare for people to have a job for life these days so if you're only planning on staying for a year or two but will have better career prospects as a result then a salary below your current expectations isn't necessarily a problem.
In any case good luck with the phone interview.
