Unless you missed this on Friday, the Gadget Show is rebooting, with 3 out of the five presenters being dropped. Those not in the next series are: Suzi Perry, Ortis Deeley, and Jon Bentley. I kind of get the losing Ortis bit. He was pretty hopeless really, but the other two going seems wrong.

The next series will be a round the world thing with Jason and Polyanna.

Channel 5 today announced that The Gadget Show will return to our screens this Spring in a new, revamped format. The brand new series will take the show on the road, as presenters Jason Bradbury and Pollyanna Woodward travel the globe to test the latest in consumer gadgetry.

Yeah, I follow Jason Bradbury on Twitter and saw this the other day.

A shame, both Jon Bentley and Suzi Perry were very good int he show (moreso that Pollyanna).

Jason was the Geek stuff, Suzi was the eye candy (sorry :P), Jon was the proper user info that people could actually use to determine what to buy.

Is a shame they dropped them :(

To be honest though if they'd have done one more comparative test on consumer digital cameras I'd have thrown something at the screen.

I don't know the story about who they kept and who they didn't but it's possible Bentley at least wasn't interested in doing a lot of long trips filming outside the UK. I actually liked each of them in their own way. We'll just have to wait and see how the revamp goes. I don't honestly see what the location aspect brings to it but you've got to have an open mind until you see it at least...

From what I've heard they will be going to different countries and trying out the latest tech to come from that country.

So it'll be 40% America, 40% Japan, 20% Germany then...

No Suzi? I shan't be watching.

Click is better anyway.

Suzi is the only one I'll miss.

Jon Bentley was the reason I stopped watching the show, I found him the most annoying presenter (and I use that term very loosely), who more often than not had an obvious agenda in his reports. Otis was OK in small doses, but I also found him annoying in recent series. Won't miss either of them TBH.

Never watched it since Pollyanna joined the team, but she looks nice - obviously a bit of eye-candy for those teenagers! Whether she knows her tech or not remains to be seen - I suspect most of their target audience won't mind either way! ;)

They're presenters. They don't have to 'know tech', they just have to read what's on the autocue.

Jason always came across as the uber geek
Jon I thought added something decent to the show - the average man in the street
Suzi - never thought of her as anything more than eye candy
Ortis - a wildcard chap but I thought would have been worth keeping
Pollyanna - never really cared for her

More like the average Dad in the street :). The value of Jon depends entirely on the market you are trying to appeal to. The problem they may have is that the kind of people Jon's persona appeals to don't really need to watch the Gadget Show to get their tech news and aren't likely to be influenced by it in what they buy. He seemed very much the 'serious gadgeteer presence' on the show and people who care about the show having a 'serious gadgeteer presence' are exactly the kind of people who really don't need to watch the Gadget Show in the first place.

I think she does have some interest in tech - she's done other shows for Channel 5 that suggest she's genuinely into photography for example. However I do wonder (like Jon) if she fancied spending long periods away from the UK filming. She hardly ever left the UK in the past with the Gadget Show and I always wondered if she left the bike racing on the BBC because she didn't want to ship round the world doing that. Course it may not have been her choice at all...

I always thought he was pretty much there as a challenge contestant to be honest with you. Very much of the sort of Blue Peter 'try anything' mould. I found him a pretty likeable presenter but The Gadget Show existed with three presenters (above) for many years before he came along.

She has.. some obvious attributes and she's a reasonable enough presenter but she is rather bland, if we're being analytical.

She is getting on a bit. 41. The poor woman’s over the hill and into Countryfile territory now.

He is a giggling idiot, and seemed to be only there to bounce banter off Jason. His success as a live presenter on C4 must have raised some eyebrows, especially if the new series is going to be 100% OB where you need the takes to be right on the nail to keep costs down.

Really, if you were to pare the team down to two people, it should be Suzi and Jason.

It's the obvious choice. Which is what leads me to thinking Suzi didn't want to do it, rather than them picking Polly over her.
