Those of us old enough to remember when Elvis died where were you when you heard?

I was laying on my parents bed and I heard it on the morning news on the radio. I was devastated as I'd asked Santa to bring me Elvis for Christmas the previous year.

I was 8.

I was 5 and I didn't know he'd died.
I don't think I was even aware of him at that age.

Depending on your viewpoint, in a previous life as a human/animal/plant of some sort, waiting to be sent down from heaven or wherever it is souls are "made", or just in the carbon cycle awaiting to be assembled.

Punk, Queen and ELO was pretty much all I was exposed to, musically speaking, in my very early years.

I was 17 with a bullet. Elvis had made some films I watched on tv when I was a kid, but music was much more exciting in the now (at the time :)) The Clash, Spizz, Banshees and the Stranglers were live acts I could see any weekend.
My Elvis thing came years later with the rise of the Elvis impersonators. The king lives on. The Japanese lot are totally out there and brilliant.

I love Queen and ELO too. If memory serves me right I think Heather might be a bit partial to ELO too.

I liked some punk. It seems a lot more easier to listen to now than it did then.

Yep, Heather is need an ELO fan too.
I think the reason it's easier to listen to punk rock now is because we only ever get to hear the better stuff it produced.
An awful lot of what was punk at the time of its emergence actually was rubbish.
Just angry people screaming in to a microphone and making a racket on their instruments.
Proper punk had a message, most of it didn't.

Being about 2 months old at the time, I was at home. Sleeping and pooping most likely

I was almost seven. I remember my mum watching the news for details - she was quite a fan.
