In a similar vein to the Vodafone thread, I thought I post my experiences with Samsung customer service. For those less inclined to read all this, it's pretty poor.

About a month ago my monitor's issues became bad enough for me to need a replacement. I was going to use the Sales of goods Act but apprently I was covered by the warranty. I got on the phone, gave the standard shpeel and Samsung told me I'd be called in 5 working days by their service department regarding a replacement for free. Nice. 5 days pass, so I call again and am told that the monitor in question might not be in stock, but I'll definately be called within five days. Same time goes by, and this time I decide to leave it, to see what happens. Another week later and I finally get a call from their service department, saying it'll be with me the next day, a Thursday.

Having confirmed my delivery address I wait through all of Thursday, missing quite important lectures to do so (I need my home pc working for work and other commitments, so I needed it asap by this point). Nothing. I ring my parents house, which is my billing address whilst at uni, and discover that Samsung tried to deliver it there. This is despite someone ringing me up specifically to confirm my delivery address, which I did quite clearly, and they get it in the wrong county. My parents can't even arrange redelivery as the courier card might have been intercepted, so I have to go back to Samsung. I'm quite angry by this point, having been waiting for near three weeks for it to get to this stage, and having missed important lectures. I call Samsung and tell them what's happened, politely I might add, and request that they get it to me on Saturday (which is an option from the courier for a little extra cost) as I cannot afford to miss anything else, and am told this will happen.

Saturday; nothing. Monday; nothing. Ring Samsung. The request for redelivery was never put through, they can't tell me why, and have not apologised up to this point. I've missed lectures again and gained nothing. They do however assure me of a Tuesday delivery, slap bang in the middle of a graded presentation. Thankfully in the service I came to expect, it arrived late afternoon nowhere near my seminar.

So overall I've lost 4 days of productivity waiting for this to arrive, have had £10 added to my phone bill in call charges, and not so much as a sorry from the wretched company over a matter that should have been resolved three weeks ago, or at the very least a week ago.

Sorry if it's a long rant, I just thought I'd vent a little and warn others of the appalling service. I got my monitor in the end, and it was free, so I suppose I'm better off than most people, but it just seems so wrong that a company that puts out great products should give me such incompetent and mediocre customer service.

I have a Samsung S5600.
It's awful. They have no idea about soo many interface basics.

I'm a fan of the products (a 2232bw and a U800 mobile phone) myself. It didn't give me any issues with setting up, apart from the silly stand which feels like it'll break when you're attaching it to the screen, and the colour balance was pretty solid. Adjustment is easy enough, and there are no dead pixels. However I do admit the phone's interface is off, and the omissions in features are bloody annoying (can't change the text message tone to something quieter you say? And I have to go through a bloody annoying menu system for punctuation? Sign me up good sir! :| )

Be thankful you dont have a sony ericsson

They want £45 for a repair charge they claim is accidental damage yet they did the same repair 6 months ago FOC and never brought it up, then told me they didnt recognise it as a fault, despite a statement from them on softpedia saying they did recognise it. Known issue = faulty at time of sale given it broke after 3 months

I now have to make another 20 mile round trip to collect a faulty phone they wont repair or replace given the claim of accidental damage.

I had a Samsung D500 mobile. It's the best phone I've ever had

Actually, scratch that. It's the second best phone I've had, the best phone I've had was my W850i :D

I thought Samsung stuff was high quality. My dad swears by Samsung phones, and was very close to buying a NC10 netbook simply because it was a Samsung. We have a Samsung VCR and it's the easiest VCR to use ever.

I'm surprised with the customer support though. When my dad's D500 broke, we phoned them up, said what was wrong and they sent us a brand new one in the post the day after, without having us send the old one in.

I have the Samsung S8300 (tocco ultra) touchscreen phone. It's very nice and shiny, but there are a couple of niggles. Texting is fiddly, and the camera takes a while to start up. I expect the phone to be slow to respond to touch, so it doesn't seem very slow with that in mind. All in all, I like it a lot, but it's not worth the money. I like the thin profile and lightness, but I keep in in a big case because it has to last me 18 months and I'm scared of breaking it...

I preferred my old Nokia 6500 slide, or even my old(er) Nokia 6300. They weren't overpriced and had simpler interfaces.

I also had a Samsung laptop many (6?) years ago, it was very good. It was still going well when I gave it away after 4 years.

I've got one and it's just exhibited the white screen of death!

It's a warranty job but god knows what'll happen.

My parents had to replace their Samsung TFT under warranty. However we went through Scan who we bought it from in the first place. There were no problems at all.

I like the products but their customer service is pretty shocking to be honest. I was once told my camera wasnt in warranty anymore quite sternly in a 'sod off and stop bothering us' kind of way, only to find my original receipt the following week clearly showing it was well within warranty.

I've never had any issues with Samsung, either their products (U900 Soul Phone atm) or their customer service. My phone before this one was a Samsung as well, I had it dropped in the toilet by my darling nephew and the screen went all funny. I called Samsung the next day, they asked me to send it in for assessment and arranged for me to pick up a new phone from my local O2 shop (luckily my sim was still working) I picked up the new phone the next day and the following week I got a call from Samsung telling me that they couldn't fix my screen and I could just keep the new phone I had got from O2.

My previous phone was already 3 years old by this point. The new phone started to develop a problem with the slider just before my contract was up, and Samsumg offered to pay for me to leave my contract early so I could upgrade my phone sooner, but in the end I just put my sim into my dads spare phone and used that until my contract expired.

I hope my luck holds out

Well I happen to like both Sony Ericsson and Samsung phones.

I'm currently on the i900 Omnia, which I love, and when my contract is up I intend to get an Omnia II.

I was going to get the Omnia II, as I have the Omnia, but I've not convinced myself that I really want the HTC HD2. Looks good.

From a UX point of view both of mine have had issues, but the Samsung was a lot nicer to use (pre-thumb-through-screen-incident).

Had two Samsung LCD TV's and one Samsung LCD monitor. The TV's were excellent, the monitor (a 226bw) has an EDID problem, and isn't recognised by anything properly. No company is perfect - everything is built to a price..

Samsung SM 226 BW Monitor, two Samsung HDDs and a Samsung DVD Recorder.

All work flawlessly, so I haven't experienced their customer support: but I am very happy with the products.
