I have been away for months due to very pressing personal issues.

Life is starting to return to normal but it may be a while before I am back "full time".

Have I missed much?

:)

Forum life is pretty much the same as it ever was.
Some people are more quiet than they were, others make more noise than they did previously while some remain constant.
It'll be good to have you back to your familiar ways of asking your questions in the way that only you can. (8+)

*rubs chin*

I wonder what is meant by that? :-)

Now, I seriously have been out of the loop. One question I would like to know (because others have asked me) how has Win7 been received by those on this forum. Has it lived up to the hype?

I have spent so little time online that I am well behind with the OS gossip.

Yes, as far as I'm concerned. I've put it on our 2 home PCs and found it to be fast and excellent. Wireless networking up and running quickly and simply, no need to install 3rd party rubbish and/or your favourite windows-conflicting-network-dropping software. Best of all, my games still run as well as ever :D

Welcome back CC. Glad things are starting to sort themselves out for you. I hope 2010 brings you personal peace and happiness.

Posting from Windows 7 on my work laptop. Also have it on my home PC, although I still prefer OS X, but only by a fraction - it is annoying in places where 7 isn't and vice versa. Generally, there isn't much between them, although the live designs available for download are very nice on Windows 7 (sets of dynamically changing backgrounds from all over the world and some as advertising).

Dave, you might like this for OS X then.

What can Wallsaver do for you?
Wallsaver lets you run any screen saver as your desktop wallpaper.
Wallsaver is a clean and simple application that lets you run pretty much any screen saver as your desktop wallpaper.

Wallsaver uses OS X's built in screen saver engine.
Apple has already perfected a screen saver engine, so we saw no point in wasting time trying to write our own. Wallsaver focuses on ease of use and a clean interface.

You can use any screen saver.
Wallsaver automatically searches the three directories your Mac stores its screen savers in. Just open Wallsaver and you're ready to go. Drag and drop any screen saver into any of the directories, and Wallsaver can use it.

Wallsaver does what the other guys can't.
Wallsaver features full Front Row support, screen locking, and even lets you choose a screen saver different from the one set in System Preferences.
