Have bought 4 new MacPros for Antenna over last couple of years and they have NEVER broken down and the only time I go near them is to install software or do an update for them.

That sounds about the same as the 8 year old Windows machines here... :?

There will always be good machines & bad ones of any make but i have yet to see a better designed / built machine than a mac pro. The engineering is exemplary.

I maxxed one out for a laugh. Everything but software, accessories like printers and the like and fibre channel cards.

Almost £16K! Wow

That was 2 x 2.93GHz 6-core Xeons, 32GB RAM, 4 SSDs, crossfire 5770s, two 30" cinema displays, etc etc

Try the same with a Dell or HP, you can easily get to double that, although you will then have a professional workstation, with workstation components...

With dual X5680 processors, 192GB RAM, 5 SAS drives for RAID controller, dual nVidia Quadro 4GB FX5800s (4K per), X-fi Titanium sound and nVidia Tesla C1060 GPGPU, the prices for a Dell comes in at over 30K€. Although I cheated a bit, you can't have dual 4GB graphics card and the Tesla unit, so take about 6K off that price. ;)

That's on their standard configuration page, you could order a better RAID controller and more disks, if you do a special order.
