..when you do a Computer Science degree and you're the only one who understands XKCD. ...when you teach the teacher how to speak the language they are teaching you. My OOP teacher can't speak a word of C#. ...when you treat programming languages like real languages. Those foreigners who speak Fortran and Ada. That isn't what its for, the wall or IM bar is for conversations. And there is nothing wrong with signing off your posts, it's just polite and signifies that you had finished what you were saying. Joe

In essence: You know what you're a geek when you effectively say "over!" when you've finished talking... Out of curiosity, after a colon do you use two spaces like you do after a full stop? Or is it one space?

Two spaces after a full stop? I've never done that. Always just the one. Joe, Over and out.

My Mum always was taught to do two spaces after a full stop, which I believe was the traditional English way. As usual, the Americans rebelled with a single space and it's basically standard now. Peter.

When I was first taught to use a computer, it was by a lady who had been a typist for the MOD. After a full stop you place two spaces, I think it had something to do with mimicking writing styles or something, though I don't recall... You know you're a bastard when you would say no to a CV because the person obviously can't use a word processor properly

*sigh* The forums take away one of my spaces... I'm yet to figure out whether it takes away the first space or the second space...I'll report back when I find out.

ROFL You know you're a geek when you set up an experiment with auto correct in Word by telling it to change .. to . and then see what happens when you hold down the full stop button

You know you shouldn't have messed with a geek when common words in your documents/emails start getting replaced by not so harmless words...(it was all internal mail and internal docs, and no, he never asked, so I never reverted it) To my old boss, stop acting like your above the rules and get on with your job! Oh, and stop leaving yourself logged in on the department computer when you go home... Sorry, went off on a tangent there...

So what's your native tongue? Real Programmers can write FORTRAN programs in any language. Do you like quiche? You know you're a geek when you know what I'm on about

Writing a FORTRAN programme in any language is like taking a crap in any toilet When you buy Plants vs Zombies at 8pm, and only just stop for a break to see it is after 1am

when you play a game, stop for a break and realise 6 hours have gone by then go 'on second thoughts...' and go back to the game...
