So I couldn't figure out how to properly dismantle the cooler since i wasn't the one who installed it.

And so I was like screw it, i'll just let it be.

So i booted up the computer and got a lovely message saying "Warning, insufficient power to the Sound Card, make sure the Floppy Power Connected is connected to the board".

So it seems like the 3 Pin Power Plug that would normally power the GPU Fan won't plug into the socket on the board because they're slightly different... so my Dad's taken the Floppy Connector from the Soundcard.

FML.

I can't be bothered to open up the machine again so i'm on my laptop.

I'm just going to get him to buy me a new card.

It's Lego, dude. It's meant to be in pieces.

Still, I feel for you.

Our house got broken into yesterday

I got home from work to find the back doors smashed in and the house raided. Luckily they didn't do too much damage or make much mess, but it freaked me out nontheless. We had Police and SOCO here last evening and weren't able to put things back together until after 21:00. They took both our laptops and my entire jewellery box but clearly didn't think much of our dvd collection because they didn't touch that. They also left the cash sitting on the side in the kitchen and all the rest of the (copious) collection of computer equipment.

Properly a smash and grab I guess. I'm really very annoyed about the entire thing, also quite nervous about calling the agents today. I feel aas though it's their responsibility to come and sort out the doors, they're not covered under contents insurance I think, but when I called them to report it last night all they did was give me the number of a locksmith that we could call out if we wanted to. I really hope I'm not going to have to do battle with them on this, the double glazed door has the bottom panel insecure, and the lock and door on the inside door needs replacing and repairing (it's a wooden one) I'm not sure where the responsibility lays when you rent, but I would expect it to be a buildings thing, rather than the tenants responsibility.

That sucks. :x

I'm pretty sure the agent/landlord will have to sort out the doors and locks as that is buildings not contents. Best to check on that before you start pointing fingers though. If you can't find anything online then check with the CAB or call up a couple of other independent agents.

Also you should be careful in the future. It is not unknown for thieves to strike twice approx. 4-8 weeks later once goods have been replaced on insurance. As you're in a remote location I would certainly suggest setting up some sort of visible deterrent such as cameras or alarms. They can be fake but you''ll sleep better with real ones. A lot of them are inexpensive these days and easy to set up if wireless.

Sorry to hear this. It's a horrible feeling knowing that strangers have been in your home. Hope you get it all sorted.

Cheers. The debate's roamed freely onto the conspiracy by the EU to ban herbal remedies, supplements and also - did you know - a doctor in the UK is not allowed to make dietary suggestions?

A GP told my mum that her breast tumor was due to stress and that homeopathy would help with it. I got so angry when I heard that I would have got the GP radiated!

EU? The last 2 German doctors I had would hand out herbal remedies and one handed out a herbal "pick-me-up" every visit.

Herbal concotions are huge, here in Germany. No way that they will disappear, there would be too much uproar - although the ones with very high alcohol content seem to be slowly disappearing.
