Ouch. I was talking to our resident tutor and he wasn't too pleased, either. It was only our block tonight, but ours is the only block that can go off when the block next to us goes off. Oh well. 4 weeks or so and I'm out of here!

LoveFilm just sent me two codes for friends/family/etc. to have 2 months free renting with them. I've got an envelope, letter and two credit card sized plastic cards...And They send me them every 2-3 months...Nobody I know wants them!

Well I sure don't. I tried them for a couple of months, they "sent" me a total of 8 DVDs. Two never made it to my address, 3 were so scratched they were either unplayable or stopped working half way through, and one of the few that arrived watchable was a duplicate from an earlier dispatch. Unimpressive.

I've been with them for about a year and a half and I've had a pretty good experience with them, though that is mainly due to Royal Mail doing a good job in the places I've lived. I've had one bad experience, I got send four different disks with the IT crowd series 2 on and the first three were scratched. But apart from that, I've not really had much of a problem.

I was with LoveFilm (Tesco) and my biggest gripe was that when adding a series boxset to the list (Planet Earth for example) I'd never get the next disc. So I'd get disc one, send it back, then get a random film from the list, then another, then disc one of another box set. I was a member for 2 months and never got disc 2 of planet earth. I was also on the games package and despite adding lots of Xbox 360 games and making them priority I never had a single one pop through the mailbox.

I've had similar issues, but have worked around it with multiple lists. I have a series list where I put all my series (simples?), I make sure one of my two disks comes from that list, their system will never (has never) send disks of series out of order.
It's also rather convenient as I don't want series clogging up my movies list...

How the hell can American cooks work with a unit of measurement as vague as "a cup"?
1/3 cup butter. Seriously WTF? Have you ever tried measuring 1/3 cup of butter with an actual cup?!
FYI apparently:
1 cup Syrup = 12oz 1 cup Butter = 8oz 1 cup packed brown sugar = 7.75oz 1 cup loose white sugar = 7.1oz 1 cup Icing Sugar, unsifted = 4.4oz 1 cup Icing Sugar, sifted = 3.6 oz 1 cup bread flour = 4.8oz 1 cup pastry flour = 4.25oz 1 cup cake flour = 3.9oz 1 cup flaked oats = 3oz 1 cup Cornmeal, coarse = 4.85 oz 1 cup Cornmeal, fine = 6.3 oz 1 cup Walnuts, chopped = 4.3 oz 1 cup Walnut halves = 3.5 oz 1 cup desecrated Coconut = 2.5 oz
How sifted is your icing sugar? How packed is your brown sugar? Do you sift the flour before or after you measure it?
Argg.

It might weigh a little more than that. Plus, preparation of this product risks being condemned to hell

It's great for measuring your own weight. I weigh 8 cups. Now was that 1 cup = a small fluffy bunny or was it 1 cup = an African elephant?
