I'd be complaining to a higher power about that.

Following this post, my dad just called to say that the biopsy results finally came through. My mum has stage 3 breast cancer and is to have 4 months chemotherapy.

Happy [LIFTED] birthday to me.

Can't imagine what you're feeling or going through. Wish you and your family the best.

Can anyone explain to me in simple words what 40% survival rate at 10 years means?

If 100 people have disease X, in ten years time only 40 of them will be alive.

I have a patient who has cholangiocarcinoma. 95% die within six months. He's been alive for at least nine months,

A friend on facebook has just announced her pregnancy, by her boyfriend of less than 6 months, and she's only 21.
I mean, for the Bay, that's positively starting late, but am I right to be slightly dismayed?

21 isn't so bad but I'd want to know someone a lot longer than that before I had a child with them.

Fair enough, I mean she's as local as local can be, with no plans of moving any where.
Just seems very young to popping kids out. We're not in the 50s after all.

Some women prefer to have them early. It means they can pick up a career again while they're still in their thirties. Or if you want an entire football team of kids, then it's a biological necessity.

She's a tattoo artist in the family business - the career's not going anywhere if she takes time off. The next step for her would be to open her own shop, I guess, but they do like to keep it in the family...

Went shopping for some jeans this afternoon. Did some new law in retail land occur in the last year that states customers are not allowed to just browse? If they're in the shop, they must be relentlessly pursued until they buy something.

One particularly cocky little tw@t wouldn't take no for an answer, first time he asked I was polite and said "No, I'm OK, just looking thanks". Literally a minute later he was back, "No really, I'm just browsing, I'll let you know if I need help, thanks!". Literally another minute later, up he pops again "If you tell me what size you're looking for I can get it for you"

I ended up throwing the pair of jeans down and walking out of the shop, muttering "For F***s Sake!!" I can't stand being rushed into buying something, why can't they just leave you alone!!
:x
