What format are the files in? Are they all the same type and size? If it's AVIs and you're literally just trimming and stitching together, then VirtualDUB is free, pretty easy and very fast. Make sure to set video and audio to "direct stream copy". It is old though and only supports Windows avi files.

Recently I seem to be having trouble sleeping at night, and when I do wake up, I'm tired and remain that way for a lot of the day, but when bed time comes....nothing.

It's mostly been since my surgery and I had been staying up later and sleeping in because I was off work, but I just figured that once I was back into the habit of getting up early that I'd be tired in the evening and get back into my normal pattern however this isn't the case. I've been up at 7 every morning this week however my earliest sleep time has been about 1am and the latest around 3.30.

Diet? Placebo? Thoughts?

Good sleep hygiene and proper routine. If i feel myself slipping insomnia mode, I will deliberately have one or two nights of only four hours sleep, after which I'm so tired, I will rapidly fall asleep when i go to bed at the correct time.

My mum was speaking to an old friend on the phone and they can easily talk for two hours at a time. As a result the batteries in the phone take a beating and eventually the call will cut out. Mum warned her friend that this was likely to happen and when it did she thought nothing of it and continued with what she was doing beforehand. After a a little while she felt a bit guilty with the abrubt ending and decided to call her friend back just to make sure she hadn't been offended or anything. As the handsfree was without power she picked up the 'wired' handset and was about to start dialling when she heard her friend still talking through the phone, and this was 10 minutes after the handset had run flat! She carried on as though nothing had ever happened and I have been sworn to secrecy.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

I have been trying to eat dinner earlier to ensure this isn't an issue, I have breakfast most days too.

Yeah I do have a fair bit on my mind at the moment, but that isn't unusual and has never played with my sleep before. I've thought maybe listing what I've got on might help.

Hence my comments, I thought I would automatically be so tired this week I can't help but to sleep, I suspect by the weekend that'll probably be the case.

You're probably not getting as much exercise as you did before the surgery.

You could try the triple whammy of a shot of scotch, rubbing one out and then reading a Dan Brown.

It was a move that would have made The Joker proud, but a rather stupid one. A Brazilian man was arrested after trying to open a bank account using a fake ID - with a photo of actor Jack Nicholson.

I took a packed lunch in today (omelette sandwich as I forgot to boil some eggs last night). Boss took me out to lunch for a chat.

I have a sandwich in my drawer. If I don't eat it, I'll chuck it away. If I eat it, I will be a great greedy b*st*rd.

What should I do?

Send it to the starving children of sub-Saharan Africa. Or eat it.

I'd go with the latter, personally. Shame to let it go to waste.
