Netflix makes history as House of Cards takes top Emmy nominations Show is the first online-only program to be nominated for an Emmy, much to the shame of TV's main broadcast networkshttp://www.guardian.co.uk/tv-and-radio/2013/jul/18/emmys-nominations-netflix-house-of-cards

It shows how safe the main networks are. There are so many programs that are cancelled before the audience have settled in. For Netflix it was not such a gamble. The source was a classic here and so with the right cast and budget it was always going to do well.

LutherWhat a brilliant entrance by Alice (Wotcha) and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole episode. Please don't let this be goodbye

I was kind of hoping it would be to be honest. Idris has said he doesn't really want to make any more and with Ripley gone I don't think it will be same. While I'm glad it didn't end in some sort of over the top bloodbath and I found the show (and indeed the whole series) a total joy, I thought the ending was a bit of a cop-out.

I've read somewhere he mentioned the possibility of a film but we'll see. I guess I'll just have to watch it all over again from the beginning. Hard life! In what way was the ending a cop-out? Literally a cop out? Geddit? lol

Yeah, got it saved on my media centre for a rainy day . <raises a quizzical eyebrow but says nothing> I thought it was a cop-out insofar as it didn't actually end. All it did was effectively erase a lot of what had changed over the last four episodes, back to just being Luther and Alice and their... slightly odd relationship. It couldn't have more said 'forget about the stuff that just happened, we'll pick this up again in a bit' if it had actually put that up on screen in big letters.

I liked the ending. Especially where it was set. And the bit in the police van (trying not to reveal too many spoilers lol)

Oh, it was all well done and very well acted (particularly that bit actually, really showed how well you can act with only little dialogue). And I can understand the notion of an ending that isn't an ending, because real life isn't neat like that. I just wanted something that was a bit more of a surprise I think. Luther has always been a brave show and the ending just didn't seem very brave to me.

Fiona Bruce and Dermot Murnaghan voted nation's most attractive newsreadershttp://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/ ... aders.htmlBe sure to check out some of the supposed statistics in the link. It would have to come down to Hawkins and Reid there for me personally. Outside of the list, there's just something about Sian Williams...
