Is this the same Eamonn as Eamonn "who ate all the pies?" Holmes?

The Thief of Baghdad's on - an executioner just took an arrow to the head, fired by a man on a flying carpet. Bit rough for 3.05pm

There's barely any point to the ratings these days, it's become more of a 'Cut that scene to achieve demographic X' thing for the studios it seems.

Oh yes that's something that really peeves me off. Shows that were 18-rated are suddenly PG because they've cut various bits out. Or 12/15-rated comedies like Friends/TBBT being cut so they can be shown on air (Channel 4 will always cut anything related to prostitutes).

No, but clearly Channel 4 don't see it like this. For heaven's sake, they've edited out scenes from The Simpsons (clicky). What's more annoying is that they've only been doing this in the last 4-5 years. Prior to this, they seemed to be happy to air The Simpsons unedited.

They might be cutting it to fit the schedules and get more ads in.

Nope. It's specific to certain jokes or scenes. Otherwise they could cut out side storylines and fit the thing into 15 mins.

Anyone been watching Southcliffe on Channel 4? What sounded like a promising drama on paper is just incredibly dull and long-drawn out - plus the disjointed timeline doesn't help either. Watched Sunday's opener but had to turn off halfway through Monday's episode as I was bored sh!tless! I'm all for dark, brooding dramas but there comes a point where it becomes dead and lifeless (ironic, given the subject matter!)

That Stephen Fry's Key to London or whatever it was called wasn't bad last night, though he only seemed to spend about five minutes with every person he met the way it was edited down.
