France for me, just got to figure out a way of making a decent living. I'm happy enough here for now though.

Oh, come on! Get someone to lead you round ASDA blindfolded and listen to passing conversations.
I noticed some time ago that only around 30% were held in English.

BTW, when did you leave Tickhill for Derby?

About six and a half years ago.
(Though I did go to uni there too, and lived there for a short while after.)

I'm exceptionally happy living in the UK, moreso because I live in, and love, London.

The thing is, even though it's a hypothetical "conditions/cost no object" I've not been to nearly enough of the places I want to go, so to even be hypothetical about it is difficult.

I've always said, should I win the lottery the first thing I will do is tour the world, slowly, to consider my options; because at the moment I just couldn't say... I reckon I could quite easily move to Amsterdam if for whatever (unlikely) reason I'd tired of the UK - but that's not allowing for all the places I've never been; the hotel apartment in Hong Kong for instance, or a loft in New York, a warehouse in Berlin, a snug in Iceland, a villa in Croatia, an ocean-view Morrocan getaway, a hacienda in Mexico City... etc.

Country wise, the only place that I've ever thought "hmm, I like how they do things" is France. But could I move there? I dunno. Would I choose to move there over the UK? I very much doubt it.

Oh and,

I've put the first tick in - Already left not coming back.

I love Australia, and although I do still like the UK I much prefer life here than back home.

I think it's different for everyone though and as things change I might make the move back home, but for now I'm happy.

I'm happy here! I've been out of the UK once before so, like Snowy, really don't have any real knowledge of where I'd like to live. To be honest I've not visited enough of this country really...

Already gone, in Germany, as most of you already know.

Nothing really pulls at me, to make me want to come back.

Visiting family is the biggest pain, and one of the reasons that I visit so rarely. If I come over, I have to visit the whole family, otherwise they will be offended, but they live on the South Coast, Cornwall, Manchester and Backpool, which means, after driving a thousand klicks to the UK, I then have to spend the whole "holiday" sitting behind the wheel! :(

We do have these awesome things called planes though - I've heard rumours that they cut journey times considerably. ;)

My dad commutes to Edinburgh and Manchester from Bournemouth and flying works out cheaper than the cost of diesel to drive.

Japan.

Went there 3 years ago and have missed it ever since.

That's why I ticked Asia.

Although the statement "There's nowhere like blighty" is also true.

It takes about 5 hours to drive to my cousin's place from here (using the tunnel, add another hour for the ferry). Flying takes around an hour, plus the 2 hours you have to be there before departure, plus the 45 minute travel time to the airport, then an hour from the Stanstead to London, 30 minutes or so to get across London, then another 2.5 hours train down to my cousin. Or I have to rent a car, which works out more expensive than the diesel and ferry costs, for a weeks holiday, on top of the cost of the flights for 4 people... And driving over, or renting a car, is the only economical way of transporting 4 people from Chicester, to Southampton, to Truro, to Crawley, to Birmingham, to Blackpool and Manchester, then back again... And we are supposed to have a "holiday" and "relax" doing all of that travel?

It is much easier, when they come over here, they get to relax and stay with us, for a week, see some local sites, then travel back again... Unfortunately, only my late mother and my brother have bothered to come over in the last 8 years.

I've been back to the UK a few times, especially during my mother's illness, but it is just too stressful to do on a regular basis, with all the rushing around, trying not to offen family members... Next time we do it, we'll probably chose one family member or chose somewhere in the middle and those that want to, can come and visit us.

I ticked Pie.

I don't like where I live right now, but then I'm not that far from loads of places I can visit if I want.

On balance, I'm quite happy to live in Blighty. Sure, it has its faults, but perhaps it's better to stay here and try and fix it.

Tickhill is actually a really nice village, and the residents seem genuinely proud of the place. The general tidyness and lack of litter is refreshing.

I take your point about Askern though, the armpit of South Yorkshire. Mind you I spent most of my life in Rossington, so I can hardly claim the high ground.
