2010 has been reasonably kind to me so far. 1. New woman in my life, which is nice. 2. Small pay rise, but can't complain considering I was unemployed in 2009 3. Both parents doing quite well considering their medical history 4. Had many merry social gatherings The only negatives have all been everyday normal annoyances and nothing to get down about, although I do moan about them endlessly. I like to moan, so I guess that's good too

2010 for me at least has turned out to be... pretty unmemorable, overall. Fell ill some time around June but got the final all clear yesterday, so that's pretty much a zero sum. Neither started nor ended a relationship, so so's that. Had a decent holiday, couple of nice weekends in wild (as in rugged, not as in 'having it large') places but kind of.... yeah. OK, but not something that's going to occupy much time in the third volume of my memoirs, when I get around to writing them.

+1. That was a pretty bad time for all of us, especially as it happened less than a week after the 18th anniversary of my mum's death, and also on my brother's wedding anniversary This year I have lost my job and embarked on a new career, which seems to be going well, so I'm hoping that this is the start of something... better.

Yeah, it's not been a good year. Better than last year mind, but still not good. I'm hoping for a better year next year.

Yes, 2009 was a definite low point. This year is better - I got a job I enjoy and moved to a place I like - but, the general downward grind of 2010 has taken the shine off the high points for me. Roll on 2011 and the RWC in New Zealand.

Actually, as of today my brother is now unemployed thanks to the administrators and the primarily public owned bank not extending the credit on his employer.
Bit rich when his books were completely stcked up with work for the next 2 to 3 years.

And now my dad’s been admitted to hospital. He’s going to be OK, but what he has is better treated there than at home. Hopefully he’ll be home in a week or son and recuperating in less clinical surroundings.

I would say that 2010 has been one of the best year's of my life, don't want to seem to criticise the OP's sentiments though, as I can emphasise strongly with having " an awful year".

As years go, I've definitely had worse than this one, and this has been the quickest yet (maybe that's why)

Welcome to my 2009 (5 deaths in the family, for a start)... 2010 is a bit better for me, I lost my job, but found a better one. On the down side, I had to have an op on my heel, I have a cyst on my right shoulder, which will need operating on...

Thanks. I’m told that when he’s responded to the medication they are giving him, he should bounce back pretty quickly. His check at admittance yesterday sounded positive - he’s pretty fit when he’s well.

Sending best wishes. Hope he doesn't pick up anything nasty in hospital like my Dad did. I seriously thought we were going to loose him! Hope he's alright. C

Well the latest news is that he's still in hospital and he had a couple of bad nights. For the medicos here, he has colitis and it sounds like it's got pretty angry (I am not asking for medical advice here, BTW). They are trying stronger medication in the hope that he will start to respond positively. However, they are also planning for the event of surgery. Surgery will actually be the end of it - but it's being seen as the last resort I would expect that if he were to go und the knife it would be in the next couple of days.
Naturally, feeling somewhat concerned and anxious.

It's never nice seeing your dad in a hospital bed. Hope he's up and about soon.
