I do find it interesting how we need to associate flavours with colours, the blackcurrant flavoured sugar water needs to be purple etc. This is why I was a big fan of the Panda blue cola you could buy, shame how it tasted like [LIFTED].

I saw a blind taste test once. A panel were given different flavoured drinks which had all been coloured to be different from the flavour. I.e. Lemon was red and strawberry was green etc...

Almost all of the panel got the flavours wrong and labelled them as per the colour not the flavour.

Was quite interesting.

Most fruits taste of sugar and citric acid, it's only really the scent and colour that tells them apart.
Some artificial scents / flavourings aren't very good...

 I remember Panda Pops! I liked the blue one too.

I've personally found that it's difficult to differentiate between artificially flavoured products. Have done a proper blind test with Maynard's wine gums. I've found most of them just taste like chewy rubber with a "chemical" taste. It's only by looking (or by shoving a whole load of same coloured ones in my mouth) that I can differentiate between the flavours.

Wine Gums are the worst sweets, followed closely by Liquorice Allsorts and Parma Violets

Is food poisoning a problem? I would have thought that you would either have to wait till milk curdles or the food gets furry before you chuck it.

Milk isn't around long enough to curdle. Food gets eaten before it gets furry.
I don't have enough money to buy food and let it go off.

I used to love Tab Clear - clear Coke sold cheap to promote it initially (it obviously flopped) :)

It's only chicken flavour.
No animals were harmed in the making of that flavouring.
