The only film I've seen at the cinema this year is Harry Potter.
Not bad, but it would have been bloody confusing if I hadn't read the book.

2011 so far:

1: 500 Days of Summer (I think that will be in top spot for a while if not all the year...)

My top 5 from 2010 would have to be

Toy Story 3
The Disappearance of Alice Creed
Inception
Kick-Ass
Buried

But of films watched for the first time in 2010 then Buried would go for Let The Right One In

I saw that a few months ago. I also rate it quite highly, although not on my top 10 of all time. Very much my kind of thing though, and I wouldn't mind seeing it again. There aren't many films I'd re-watch by choice.

I assume you're talking about the recent version? If so, you should see the original as well. It's not a frame-for-frame remake, the films are different enough to both be interesting.

The recent version wasn't called that, it was called Let Me In.

Indeed. I meant the original "Låt den rätte komma in" with English subtitles. KW leant it to me on DVD, and now everyone I know has also watched the same disk

I did see there was a remake, but I do not plan on watching it unless it happens to be on TV.

I've only watched one film in the last year, and that was The Sorcerer's Apprentice; and unmitigated car crash of a film.

I watched one film at the cinema this year - The Book of Eli. It was good - 6.5/10 - but I only saw that because I knew the cinema would be fairly empty.

Shan't be going to a cinema again anytime soon though - too much that distracts from the actual film.

I did indeed mean the original, I haven't seen the remake and have no real desire to.

I don't have a problem with remakes as such, but I was so blown away by the original I wouldn't be able to be dispassionate enough to give the remake a fair hearing.

Actually, forgot about back to the future. That was the best film of 2010.

Hollywood Reporter's Director RoundTable is fascinating viewing - contains spoilers!

If you hear the title of a film you'd like to see come up, or one you're considering, mute the sound for a bit! Otherwise, this is a fantastic look at censorship by some very talented directors :D

I know, to many people it's quite bizarre. I do enjoy the odd film, but the effort of actually getting out of the house to go to the cinema (and risking about £8 per person) always puts me off.
