This is really very good news indeed, Paul. I'm very pleased that his rehabilitation seems to have done the trick. I'm sure it's a big relief for all family members concerned.

Now he’s driving, there’ll be no stopping him… He wanted to change his car for something new and long lasting late last year to duck the VAT rise, but he was unable to. I guess that he’ll be getting that plan back on track soon. Current car is old, a bit worn out and needs replacing really.

There is always the option of getting a year old car. These can be substantially cheaper. The dealer only charges VAT on the difference between what he gets and what he paid for it. So the VAT is a lot less even if it is at 20%.
