Could be a variation in the translation from the french, I'm guessing.

Possibly. String gauge is usually determined by preference & scale-length. e.g. On a Strat I'd play 9's but need 10's on a Les Paul as it's got a shorter scale-length. 9's on a Les Paul are too loose.

I use 10-42s on my Ibanez. Though I still have to take it to the local guitar shop as I can't get the hang of restringing a Floyd Rose system.

What model is your bass, Mark? I can do a little looking for you. I hated redoing mine - so much fail. Give me a Tune-o-matic any day.

Not quite. Though I'm thinking these ones may be a little light, so going for the 105 next time might be an idea. It's a Washburn AB-34 semi-acoustic. Mark

*drool* Personally I'd have a stab at some DR Rare Phosphor Bronze Acoustic 45/65/85/105. They're not cheap but I've had the pleasure of mike-ing them up and I tend to think they're worth it. If you kept your old strings, see if you can't borrow a micrometer and see what diameter they are. If the Ernies are a little light, keep an eye on your neck bending backwards.

I'm having real difficulty looking for one for an acoustic bass, which is a shame because I really like the look of them. Mark
