That's quite a crash there, and very unlucky timing for Hamilton. Thankfully Sutil appears to be fine after that.

Webber looks very handy around the track today.

And how about Nakajima? Fastest in Q1.

Silverstone could still host the 2010 GP.

The Beeb's estimated fuel loads suggest that Vettel is running heavier than anyone else in the top ten grid slots.

Hmm. I didn't watch beyond about lap 20. It seemed a foregone conclusion the way the leader was going!

Congratulations to the winner (not mentioning any names yet, to avoid spoilers for those that will watch the rerun later). Both drivers of that team seem to have good cars, good backup and the right attitude to take it to Brawn GP.

Working out to be a fantastic season.

Is there a full rerun at any point? I missed most of the buildup and some of the race that I'd like to see. They usually rerun it in full late at night on BBC3 or something but I can't see one in the schedules.

Don't know, to be honest, and neither does the Beeb.

I guess it's on iPlayer at some point. The qualifying and pre-race show are currently on there, so one would hope the main race will appear soon enough.

I had the distinct impression, from hearing dozens of interviews, where every single one contained a "Non prompted statement", along the lines of Silverstone is a such a great circuit, everybody loves it, best in the world, etc etc . That there was a very significant amount of politicking going on not to move the British GP location. :?

Totally agree with you Alun.

As far as the race was concerned I didn't particularly find it that exciting this year. Yes.... there were some minor battles going on throughout for places down the order but it just didn't do it for me this time.

I'm really disappointed not to be seeing Hamilton racing against Button this season. That would have been great.

Now that would be something, based on Martin Whitmarsh's comments I suspect that they will cut and run on this car soon and concentrate on the next car, so maybe next year. It looks like McLaren and Brawn are in the same camp so they will probably be racing against each other next year, what ever the series is called!

As HK asked here it is :D

An interesting Grand Prix has turned into a fascinating one thanks to the news of a potential breakway. But back to the GP
my prediction a good race by Button with a squeaky win <just>
Hamilton will plod along midtable.
Max will not be smiling much.
:D

Oh well two out of 3 isnt bad.

Just got back from my weekend at Silverstone - great race, fantastic atmosphere (despite a British driver not winning) and it will be a huge shame if Silverstone don't get another F1 race IMHO - they just need to sort out that bl**dy tunnel for the spectators*. My guess is it will be there again next year (hopefully), but we'll have to see what else happens along the way - I'm sure there are many twists and turns to come yet!

*If anyone's been to Silverstone, you'll already know the horrors of waiting to get through that tunnel, near to Luffield. We had to wait about 20 minutes to get through the damn thing - if they get to keep the race, they really need to sort that out!!

After the race, whilst waiting to get out of the car parks, we realised we were going absolutely nowhere. Anyway, someone behind us spotted an unattended gate hidden by an overgrown hedge. After untying the rope, he managed to sneek through, thus bypassing the huge queues - unfortunately, he failed to account for his rather large car and took half the fence post and hedge with him!! We followed him quickly before the marshall spotted other cars doing the same and promptly closed the gap. Utter bliss, realising that we'd probably saved ourselves a good hour or two of queuing there! We passed the poor guy further up the road, head in hands whilst surveying the damage to his car, a huge deep scratch along the side and what looked like a damaged alloy wheel! Kinda felt sorry for him, he took the risk and we benefited from it!

Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend, roll on next year (wherever that might be).
