Looks like loads of people have applied for multiple tickets:

Quote:
One person worried about this is Ruth, who has applied for £22,000 worth of tickets.

"What my husband decided was the chances of getting tickets would be low, so we applied to get our 20 lots, and he got his sister to do it and his dad to do it. So we've applied for all these tickets using up three people's quotas," she told BBC Radio 5 live.

"We're a family of four so we've applied for about 240 tickets. We're just really hoping that we won't get them all."

I hope you do, you f*cking idiot. That will teach you to be so indiscriminate in your willingness to attend a marketing event where sport will be used to promote sugared water, burgers, pizzas and credit cards.

I’m glad no one asked me to apply for tickets for their “pool” of hopefuls. I’d have used language.

Nope, like has been said, too much to go down to London and fork out for stay and tickets.

Think I'll just save the cash and go and see the World Championships again TBH.

Olympics: Man gets £11,000 of tickets after bidding for £36,000

http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2011/ju ... ts-bidding

Quote:
Hundreds of thousands of people may have missed out on their chance to experience the Olympics first hand, but one man has won £11,000 worth of tickets after bidding on a total of £36,000 worth.

Stephen Hunt, an insolvency practitioner, said he had surpassed his credit limit and did not have the available funds to pay for the tickets. "My assumption was, based on the rules, that I would get nothing," he told the Today programme.

He received an email telling him the payment of £11,000 had been rejected but he would be given a "second chance" if he could have funds available in a couple of days. Otherwise he would lose all of the tickets. "I had this horrible choice on Monday, either I had none or I [spent] £11,000," he said.

The amount was about double the figure he wanted to spend but after talking to his wife they decided to increase their credit limit. According to Olympic ticketing rules ticketholders can sell tickets to family and friends but have to be present as the lead booker. Hunt suggested that as an insolvency practitioner it was likely to be the first time in his career that he was popular.

I really think 2012 is gunna be a complete and utter f**k up, and I couldn't care less; maybe next time we'll leave it alone. I'm quite happy to watch what event I want on TV. Why would I want to spend money on tickets with no guarantee of seeing an event I'm interested in?

These muppets bidding for idiotic amounts of tickets deserve to get stuffed up for their own stupidity. I really hope the tickets are registered to a name/ID or something, so they can't tout them either.

He was on telly too. I really have no sympathy for people who overreach themselves for this.

He probably assumed that the games would be much more popular and he would be lucky to get anywhere near his credit limit. Maybe they should have given priority to those who only bid on a single event and give them a definite ticket. For those with more than one request do it in such a way that everyone gets at least one ticket.

I saw that tw@ on TV too. Don't give the fool airtime, he should be sacked from his job and/or not have contracts renewed.

Seriously, 'Hello, I'm on tv being paid to tell people how stupid I've been yet trying not to accept any responsibility. These appearances will help you pay for my tickets though...'

Ah right.
Does that mean we won't be seeing the mayor or his family attend any of the events then?

I suspect the Mayor of London will get a ticket for himself. Will Boris be Mayor next year?

Maybe not. Election date is May 2012.
