I sometimes wonder what it would be like to live in the 50s.
Come home to a clean house. Food on the table. People always respected you because you're a doctor.
There were definitely gender inequalities but people had a lot more respect for one another, even just as regular folk.

But men didn't have respect for women.

Because women were treated as second class citizens.

That's another statement, not an answer to my question. Given that neither you, nor I, were alive in the 50s can we really know what the attitudes were? Yes, women weren't expected to do the roles they do today, but as a result of WWII their roles in society and the opportunities they had were greater than at any other time prior. Women went to work, earned a wage. I'm not sure a lot has changed, frankly, in attitudes to one another.

Hmmm, I take your point. The resounding impression I get from people who were around though is that men and women were not equal.

I take it you are a Daily Mail reader, Paul? That image featured in today's newspaper. Peter.

Someone showed me a MS one between the US and Polish versions of an advert http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/18264/mspoland.jpgNot going to guess why it is, but looks like a nasty photoshop disaster also lol

The Poles are clearly not going to “learn more” from that ad!
