Lake District and Cornwall would be the two I'd tip for wonderful scenery.

The South Coast is also nice, New Forest and points west.

^ These too.

Not sure they're high on Bratty's war and graffiti requirement though. :D

I think the issue with the Denge sound mirrors is they are on a nature reserve. You have to book a visit, otherwise you have to climb over the fence and swim across the open water to get to them. ;)

Bratty can pretend he’s some kind of hostile force while he does that. I bet it would give him the buzz of his life. :D

I doubt you'd want to come so far south, but in Dorset, we have the tank museum, tyneham village and the spectacular Jurassic coast.

Yeah. I don't like Weymouth, but west Dorset is nice. Lyme Regis and Bridport etc.
There's an excellent Thai restaurant in Bridport... yum yum... ;)
Not that much there though.

South and north Dorset are equally nice. Apart from Weymouth, which is a dump and Bournemouth, which doesn't count, I love it all.

There's plenty of World War II stuff in Cornwall, for example on the cliffs around Perranporth there are abandoned bunkers, pillboxes and even the wartime airfield is still there (though now strictly a civilian operation). There's also an old nuclear bunker which is now a brewery at Coverack.

Goonhilly Downs is also worth a look for the satellite station.

On the whole though Cornwall is very quiet and very dull.

I'd suggest Liverpool as worth a nose around.
Salisbury Plain has to be worth a look at too, if you're lucky and there's tank practice going on, you'll get to hear them shelling things too.

Maybe it was before you got a holiday home there.

Oops, forgot about that. I'm sure your home is lovely! Actually to be fair, parts of Weymouth are okay.

My dad was shipped off to the Lakes during the war, does that count?

An aunt ran a pub and they'd slaughter a pig once a month, it was turning green, hanging in the kitchen, by the end of the month!

If he borrows a diving suit, there are a couple of sunken German planes there

Hendon Air Museum was always a favourite of mine, the WWII building was also good, when it opened, I haven't been back for about a decade.

In London, you can also visit the War Rooms, where Churchill ran the war.

South Coast has a bunch of pill boxes and there are the Napoleonic forts in the Solent, they are worth a visit.

I'm not always fully awake at 6 in the morning! Didn't read all of his OP. ;)

Well Bratty does have a fetish for gas masks and stuff so I guess he'd probably be thrilled to get some diving gear on. :D
