Actually it was. England took a 3-0 lead in the first half only for Sweden - the tournament is being staged in Sweden by the way - to come back to 3-3 by full time.
After 30 more minutes of extra time, England had had a man sent off but one of Sweden's players had had to leave the field through injury and they had no one left to replace him. Both teams scored 4 out of their initial 5 penalties then in the next round a Swedish player hit the post with his penalty so England went through on the sudden death rule.
So, overall, a match full of drama and events. To use a topical analogy, imagine an English player being two sets and match point down in the Wimbledon semi final, only to come back and take the next two sets and then lose on a tie breaker at the end of the fifth set. Just pandemonium (in a good natured way) in the stands.
The most distracting part however was the commentator pointing out (quite rightly, in my opinion) that Sweden's star player was the absolute spitting image of the tall blond terrorist accomplice of Hans Gruber in Die Hard. The one who gets shot right at the end.
