+1. Met my current partner through an online chat room and this March we've been together 6 years. Although if you want to learn the guitar instead of teaching yourself why not join an evening class? You might meet some ladies. And it will get you out of the house. Same for the baking Not a bad idea. I've stayed in a 2 bedroom static home and it was really quite luxurious. The neighbours even had sky TV. Only downside is lack of privacy as you can't have a row with anyone in private (the neighbours had a huge drunken row one night lol)

Edd is learning on the Mac, and we also got a copy of Rocksmith which is fun for me and is quite a good way to stay motivated in practicing ( Think guitar hero with real guitar)

I personally thought of joining the WI but it seems to be the domain of the 45+ ladies :S Which is a shame as it seems rather fun. +1 evening classes to meet people. I have been learning tai-chi on/off for over a year and people are really lovely. Ice skating class starting this week

The WI may have an image as something people do when they're older but I'm sure I saw something on the TV recently about them wanting to attract more younger members. Don't think there is really a minimum age for joining and it can be enlightening to mix with people outside your own age range. Some of the most interesting people I know are a good 20+ years older than me. Plus there's a strong chance of cake so what's not to like?

As if you need an excuse to make some for yourself.
