Great result for Italy - That's two on the bounce against France. I'd hate to be facing France next.

Not Probs - happy to rub it in I liked the statement before the match that Scotland had not won at Twickenham since 1983 and that none of the English Team had been born by then - althougn it makes me feel old

It was a surprising stat, to say the least. All in all (despite the loss), I thought it was a very enjoyable opening weekend with three entertaining matches. Next week should be interesting - Wales and France will both have their backs up and feel they have something to prove. Scotland host the Italians, after a brilliant win - should be interesting. Finally, Ireland and England - both fighting to maintain their grand slam dreams - should be a corker. I enjoy the 6N much more than the RWC.

Wow! Did not expect a 24 point victory.
I'm not moaning, but I expected a tougher test against Italy after their superb win against France last weekend.
Just settling down for France v Wales - Come on the reds!

Did I see a different match to the pundits?
I saw an England team that only just got over the finish line because of a horrendous number of handling errors by the Irish. It was good to get the win, but 12 points from the boot of Farrell hardly constitutes a mature and solid victory.
Healey should receive a ban for that stamp - I don't care how frustrated he was by Cole's disruptions, that was shocking.

It was an game played in awful conditions and the team that coped with that better was always likely to win. The Irish weren't making 'unforced' errors per se, it was down to the situation. You could say that was Ireland's 'fault' for not dealing with the conditions as well, or you could say England deserved it because they coped better. Both are equally true. However the one piece of analysis that occurs to me is that the Irish team was vastly more experienced than the English one, and therefore probably should have coped better than the English, if anything. You'd assume he'll get sited for it, and then it will be up to the authorities. Jon

On the contrary, there were plenty of unforced handling errors from Ireland, especially in the first half hour (7 or 8 at least). On several occasions these errors halted sustained Irish pressure and killed at least a couple of solid scoring opportunities. One schoolboy error put Ireland under pressure, when Heaslip (I think) dropped a high ball under no pressure - trying to catch it with his hands, rather than positioning himself under it for a basket catch. Those errors cost Ireland the game - we were lucky to come away with a win.

Not luck, you work to win at anything and England worked harder to keep down the errors in poor conditions and won.

A very satisfying weekend of Rugby. France are still pointless , Scotland won't be taking the spoon this year, and England are still on for a slam.

An enjoyable weekend. Great progress for Scotland. What the hell is going on with Ireland?

This is a very, very weird year for 6 nations. I am more upset about Ireland losing than anything else right now (apart from Michalak and stupid Ashton

Well, the Scotland v Wales match was a torrid affair, and I admit Wales were deserving winners - it could have been a lot worse if not for Halfpenny's rare poor kicking form.
Ireland v France - Wow! Lansdowne Road (I refuse to call it the Aviva Stadium) was battlefield and a half. It was a scrappy match but thoroughly absorbing. I was hoping for a Irish result, to mark BOD's last home international (despite what that might have done to Scotland's place in the 6N table), but it wasn't to be, and France have squeaked a point. Why do they insist on sticking with Michalak?
