Commuters. Well that's a very hot subject here. Been commuting over 25 years and they still piss me off daily.

People who walk around the stations with their heads down looking at their mobiles. Get out of the bloody way, some of us have trains to catch!

People who stand by the door when the carriage has plenty of space. Hey how the hell are we supposed to get off? Don't move or anything.

People who push on to the train before everyone has got off.

People who have bags in front of them so there's no room for your feet. Would you like me to rest them in your lap?

Business men. Yes you know who you are. Our money is just as good as yours. Just because I don't wear a posh suit doesn't mean I'm not human like you so stop the attitude.

Parents who are unable to control their kids. Last night I had the pleasure of being kicked in the knee several times by a toddler in a pushchair.

This, a million times. Add in the subcategory of these, that being people who stand right in front of a set of lift doors as they open, so everyone getting out of the lift has to push past them to get out. [LIFTED] off you selfish, inconsiderate [LIFTED]s

There's a bloke who does that every day at my home station if I take the 17:08 train home. No amount of brushing into him seems to give a hint. One of these days he's going to get a proper clattering.

I know people who have mental conditions which don't prevent them from holding down a job etc. but do suffer from mild claustrophobia and fear of crowds - the tube isn't a happy place for them, and if they feel safer being near a door instead of jammed between Mr Business Suit and A.N. Youth then that's what they'll do.
You wouldn't expect a heavily pregnant woman to stand, so why expect someone with a condition who might prefer limiting the crush to join in the melee for space?

Yes but wouldn't buses be a better option for claustrophobics? In London with buses and overland trains there are probably better options for them.

Depends on where he lives and how much time he wants to spend travelling.

Call me weird but to me, if you don't like crowds, the last place you want to be is right at the door of a train when it pulls in, either on the train or on the platform. That's where everyone is going to crowd who is in a hurry to get on and off. If you've claustrophobic or enochlophobic and want to get on a train you'd wait at the back, let the crush happen then get on afterwards. Course, you'd have to entirely avoid the rush hour anyway.

Buses were always slower than the tube, but if you are a real claustrophobic wouldn't you be able to justify the journey on the bus over the tube. Though in lifts that could be a very different matter if your office is above half a dozen floors.

Gah! The thing I always hated about trains was that I always reserved my seat and there was always some fecker sitting in it! Why where they sitting in my seat? Because someone had sat in theirs! This would wind me up no end. The guys could be persuaded to move but for some reason women felt it was their right and would be put out if I asked them to move.

In a way, it got sorted in that Virgin made it extremely difficult to get the 14 day and 7 day advanced return tickets (priced at £16 and £13 respectively). I ended up paying £36 and ran into fewer problems. I always made a poin of not sitting in a booked space.

Oh no, this guy is on the platform. He always stands bang in the middle of the doors, with his toes three inches away from the platform edge, every day. He clearly knows exactly where the doors will be when the train is stopped, but rather than using this knowledge so he can stand exactly to the side of the doorway, he stands bang in the middle so 4 or 5 people have to exit sideways squeezing around him, and delay his boarding.

When I used to get on the King's Cross train at Aberdeen I always looked for reserved seats that other people had missed that were reserved from further south than I was going.
Quite often there were seats that were only reserved from Peterborough etc. I think most people just saw the paper tab and assumed they couldn't use the seat.
