So it's taken me a while to decide, mainly because cutting down to 8 tracks is like pulling out my fingernails, but for the record and in no order of preference -

'All I Need' - Air
'Disappear' - Evanescence
'The Healer' - John Lee Hooker & Carlos Santana
'Gorecki' - Lamb
'Open Up' - Leftfield
'The Last Beat Of My Heart' - Siouxsie & The Banshees
'Nothing But A Child' - Steve Earle & Maria McKee
'Rez/Cowgirl' - Underworld (the live version on the 'Everything Everything' CD)

Book
I'm tempted to say 'The SAS Survival Guide', which I read years ago and absorbed some of, but if I'm stuck on a desert island will probably come in very useful :).

Luxury
A large supply of paper and a pen that won't run out.
