You realise you two have exactly 500 posts between you? Anyway - call me daft if you like, but I sort of think this falls under the premise of citizenship. What bratty has in his possession, not for the first time, is a big pile of hurt and pain waiting to be unleashed. Well there's a big leap between misplaced and abandoned. One is accidental, the other deliberate. My question would be why would anyone deliberately abandon a case of ammunition? I've no idea if the ammunition would still be viable after being submerged for so long, maybe some of the cartridges would survive a dunking if they're well sealed. I think, basically, I can't fathom why you would want to hold onto ammunition of a dubious origin and condition rather than hand it over to the authorities.

A few random thoughts... The wrapping with the rounds - was that in the box? If I was gonna ditch that sort of gear I personally would throw the shotgun much much further away. Am I right in thinking you can't even ballistically link a spent casing to a shotgun, with the pellet blast being an obvious no-no. Bratty potentially is holding on to a lead in a major crime

I wouldn't want to keep the ammo around. It is probably soaked through, so not usable. Even if it dries, I would imagine that it would be unstable when used.

+1 Bratty - tell the police. Don’t touch anything else.

+2 Also, fact that you've been advised that it may be illegal on a public forum means that you are aware and should notify the authorities, just to cover your own behind.

You could mention that mortar round while you're at it too in fact.

Harsh sounding rebuttal: Your own personal opinions are irrelevant to both the UK legal system and how Bratty feels about it Shotgun ammo, satchel saying danger on it, starting to look like someone stole something from a grounds keeper's shed and dumped it in the river.
