There was a lot of talk about England getting a favourable opponent in Iceland last night. I'm not convinced. England can't score and Iceland have been defending very well.

My thoughts exactly. Iceland play in the way England have struggled to overcome so far this tournament. Much rather have had Portugal, frankly. I predict a low scoring game, possibly going to penalties.

If the UK votes out today, does that mean that Germany get a pass?

Given history, (IIRC three semi finals between the two, Germany have won all of them one way or another)I really don't think they need to be worried about that.

Croatia vs Portugal is woeful. Nearly 120 minutes of football and not one shot on target, let alone a goal.

And finally we get one, after 116 minutes. Thank $deity for that.

I think we'll beat iceland. We might have had trouble scoring, but we've played well everywhere else on the pitch. I doubt the Icelandics will get many shots on goal.
After that though it's very tough.

So, the England team voted Leave too, it seems.

That was an abysmal performance. Rooney had a shocker and he hasn't really found the weight of the ball all tournament, and still Hodgson waits until there are 4 minutes left to replace him with Rashford.

Yeah, Iceland were a bit dirty, but that's no excuse.

Iceland played to their strengths, England didn't. Although in fact it would be very hard to discern exactly what England's strengths were supposed to be for pretty much all the match.

Having Rooney and Wilshere in midfield though was laughable. Neither are currently up to playing midfield at any sort of decent level at all. Wilshere needs a good three month's worth of games to find out if he ever will be good enough again and Rooney certainly never will be and in fact never has been, since he was shot as a player before he was moved back into midfield at all.

So I'm now following Iceland and Italy. One or other of them might make the final and I think the odds on that must be roughly equal :D

I'm not surprised they won, though I am surprised that they got so many goals.

Leading scorers in the tournament apparently. Blimey.

Just seen the video of the Icelandic team having a parade through Reykjavik on their return home. I think like a third of the population of the country has turned out for it :D

Didn't 10% of the population actually go to the tournament (at least initially)? Regardless, if any team deserves a parade it's Iceland.

What a match!

I had France as my pick for the cup. So far so good!
