when I was a kid golden delicious were actually yellow................................... 1960s/early 70s. While not actually delicious they were OK.

Another well written piece of news there- For some reason I get the impression that the odds might be 1 million to 1
And I had to look for it hard, but I think it said that it was some sort of genetic mutation.
