I love a lot of the quotes by Lou Holtz. For those who don't know who he's a former football coach who became a motivational speaker in the US. Here's a few:
Ability is what you're capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it.
I have never heard a successful man or woman get up and say, "I owe my success to drugs and alcohol."
If you're patting yourself on the back about what you did yesterday, you haven't done much today.
Show me a person who is a success, and I'll show you a person who has overcome adversity.

+1! And there's the unmistakable figure of Joe Mercer... or is it Lester Piggott? – Brough Scott Shane Warne: "I've been waiting two years for the opportunity to humiliate you in front of your own crowd." Daryl Cullinan: "Looks like you spent it eating."

"Kalo Asmi Loka-ksaya-krit Pravardho, Lokan Samartum iha Pravattah" I think it depends on how you translate the above passage.

This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it's my very good honour to meet you, and you may call me V. | | | | |

Only the heir to the throne of the Kingdom of Idiots would fight a war on 12 fronts!
